Few weeks ago By Hand London launched a competition for the best hack of their patterns. I have recently finished my Elisalex and I wanted to try to make a skirt out of it. A mini skirt to be precise! It was still fall and I had the perfect fabric. So why not?
- Pattern: Elisalex dress by ByHandLondon, hacked as a mini skirt
- Fabric: courdoroy with floreal pattern, bought in a local store
- Difficulty: easy
To transform the Elisalex in mini skirt, I have traced the skirt in my size (4-8) and shortened it of about 30 cm in order to hit 10 cm above my knees (this measure depends of course on you). Once I had the pattern traced, I calculated the waist circumference and cut a waistband. I wanted the skirt to be high waist, so I cut a rectangle of about 10 cm high, folded and attached to the skirt. I also added pockets, because I love them.
The fabric is a light corduroy, it was love at first sight with the pattern and the colors. I have lined the skirt, since in fall and winter is always better to have a double layer. Unfortunately here winter is really cold, so I don’t know if I will be able to wear it often. It is snowing now, first snow of the year!
I absolutely love your skirt and I wish i had some of that fabric! well done
